What's Included in Every Filing

Entry Filing

We coordinate the preparation and submission of your customs entry to CBP — entry summary, classification, value declaration, and all supporting documentation. Same-day filing after receiving your documents.

HTS Classification

Accurate tariff classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. Our team reviews your product specifications against the full HTS schedule to ensure you're paying the correct duty rate — not a dollar more than required.

ISF Filing

Importer Security Filing (10+2) submitted 24 hours before vessel loading, as required by CBP. Late or inaccurate ISF filings carry penalties of $5,000 per violation. We coordinate every ISF filing on time, every time.

PGA Filings

Partner Government Agency submissions for FDA, USDA, EPA, CPSC, and other regulatory bodies. If your product requires government agency clearance, it's included in your flat-rate filing fee. No surcharges.

Duty Calculation

Precise duty and fee calculation based on transaction value, HTS classification, country of origin, and applicable trade programs. We help identify duty reduction opportunities including free trade agreements and tariff exemptions.

Compliance Monitoring

Ongoing monitoring of tariff changes, trade actions, and regulatory updates that affect your products. When rates change or new requirements take effect, we notify you before your next shipment — not after.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is customs brokerage?

Customs brokerage is the process of clearing imported goods through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). A customs broker coordinates your representation before CBP — managing entry documents, classifying your products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, calculating duties and fees, and ensuring compliance with all government agency requirements. Federal law requires that only licensed customs brokers may transact customs business on behalf of importers. Without a broker, you must navigate CBP's regulatory framework yourself, which exposes you to delays, penalties, and seizures.

How much does customs brokerage cost?

Greenwich Mercantile offers transparent, flat-rate pricing per entry — any product, any size shipment, any U.S. port. There are no surcharges for ISF filing, PGA submissions, after-hours work, or HTS classification. Most traditional brokers charge $150 to $250 per entry plus additional fees for ISF ($35–$65), PGA filings ($25–$75 each), classification reviews ($50–$150), and after-hours processing ($75–$200). Those surcharges add up fast. With Greenwich Mercantile, you know exactly what you'll pay before your cargo moves.

How fast are entries filed?

Greenwich Mercantile prioritizes fast turnaround, with same-day filing after receiving complete documentation. Most traditional brokers take 24 to 48 hours. Faster filing means faster cargo release, lower demurrage and detention charges, and fewer supply chain disruptions. Our same-day filing commitment applies to all entries regardless of product type, port, or time of day.

Do you handle FDA/USDA filings?

Yes. Greenwich Mercantile coordinates all Partner Government Agency (PGA) filings — including FDA prior notice, USDA APHIS permits, EPA TSCA certifications, and CPSC product safety filings. PGA compliance is included in the flat-rate per entry fee. There is no additional surcharge for government agency submissions. If your product requires regulatory clearance from any U.S. government agency, we coordinate it as part of your entry.

How do I switch brokers?

Switching customs brokers is straightforward. Book a 30-minute consultation with Greenwich Mercantile. We collect your product details, shipping patterns, and compliance requirements. We then coordinate the paperwork — including filing a new power of attorney and notifying your previous broker. Most importers are fully transitioned within one business day. There is no penalty for switching brokers, and you retain ownership of all your customs records.
